Power, Love And A Sound Mind By Pastor Michael Brigmond
God has entrusted much to the Church. He has given us Power, Love and a Sound Mind. He has given us Power over demons, sin, sickness, disease, problems and situations. But just as God gave Satan power over Job to do as he desired, yet there was one thing Satan did not have power over: Job’s life. There is also one thing He has not given us Power over. When Joseph was sold by the Ishmaelites into Egyptian slavery, his new master, Potiphar, gave Joseph power over ALL his possessions, business affairs, and domestic operations. In fact, Scriptures tell us that Potiphar, didn’t even know what he owned except for the food that was set before him. There was only one thing Potiphar, did not give Joseph complete power over: his wife! Joseph would have been responsible for the care, protection, and well-being of Lady Potiphar, but he did not have the power, or the right, to take her as his own. He could do nothing that would pollute or compromise her. No doubt, he was charged with making sure she was protected from attack by any other man, keeping her safe and pure while Potiphar, was away. God has indeed given us Power over all of his creation, yet he has withheld one thing: His Bride! We, as ministers, pastors and saints, are indeed charged with the welfare of the Church. We are to protect her, feed her and support her. But God has not given to ANY MAN the Power to harm his Bride. No one is allowed to seduce her into physical or spiritual adultery. We are not allowed to teach her false doctrine. We are not permitted to introduce her to worldliness, idolatry and compromise. And above all, we have not been granted license to divide her or kill her, or any part of her. No permission exists for anyone, in the church, or out of the church, to harm or destroy a member of his body. What God has cleansed, let no man call unclean. When it comes to God’s future wife, the bride of Christ, no preacher, pastor or saint has the right to:
The ministry is to act as shepherds, not judges and executioners. Let us take the Power He has given us and administer it with Love and a Sound Mind. [][][][]
