Highways
By Brother Jim Perry
There are two highways to
travel in this life
One to
eternal happiness, the other eternal strife.
The world’s highway is
full of ruts
And was
made for those with buzzard guts.
The Lord’s highway is for whosoever will
And
requires a lot of driving skill
The world’s highway is
paved with booze & dope
And the
patrolman is referred to as the Pope.
The Lord’s highway is paved with mercy and love
And he
patrols it from above.
The world’s highway goes
in many directions
And not
a single way has any corrections
The Lord’s highway travels one way.
And
when you get to the end, you’re there to stay.
There are not speed signs
along the way
You
travel at the Lord’s speed, day by day
No rest stops or traffic signals to stop and go
Just
keep listening for the trumpet to blow.
The trumpet will blow, you’ll
be gone like the wind
Then
you’ll realize you have come to the end
When you meet Jesus, you will be in clover
Your
journey on His Highway will be over.
