Halloween: Idolatry to the Max!

By Pastor Michael Brigmond

Soon the pagan, witchcraft holiday of Halloween will again be celebrated. And many unsuspecting parents will send their children out be "Pagans For A Day."

Some "churches" even have special Halloween services for their young people. Now, while we really don’t want to tell anyone how to operate their services, we would not be doing our duty if we did not at least warn those who still blindly involve their little ones in witchcraft and worship of pagan deities. This "holiday" is so blatantly evil that is seems strange to even mention it. Yet, many churches still sanction this annual event, and as long as they do, we must sound the alarm and do our best to warn them.

The pagan celebration of Halloween, also known as Samhain, is one of the major pagan festivals. This "Feast of the Dead" is considered by the pagans to be one of the primary time-locked cracks between the worlds. Pagan worshipers believe this is a time when ghosts of their dead loved ones return for a visit. If the live ones properly honor and entertain the dead ones, they believe the dead will utter occultic, prophetic advise to the live worshipers.

This is a special night when Wiccan witches worship the goddess and many parents initiate their children into this religion of darkness by dressing them in costumes and sending them out to beg for candy; helping the witches worship and entertain the dead.

For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men,
Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously,
and godly, in this present world; Looking for that blessed hope,
and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ;
Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity,
and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works.
(Titus 2:11-14)

Remember for a moment how Jesus so willingly gave His life on a cruel cross, suffering, bleeding and dying to set us free from the bondage of idolatry. Now think of how He must feel to see some of his little ones, with the blessings of their parents, imitating, playing and enjoying the celebration of idols. He must be sickened to think that His blood was shed in vain for those who cannot even refrain from such obvious idol worship.

Perhaps a greater tragedy is when "believers" modify the celebration and try to make it a "godly" event. They change the costumes from demons and devils to "Bible Characters" and think their modifications turn evil into good.

Deut 12:30-31 instructs us to not worship God in the same way the nations of the world worship idols. Our worship of the Almighty must be pure, in spirit and in truth.

The closer a person is living to this world, the further he is from God, the easier it is for him to justify participating, or allowing his children to take part, in Halloween.

"Christian Versions" of evil things are themselves evil things!! I offer no apologies. I love you too much. I want you to be saved. Salvation is in jeopardy when there is no clear separation from the pleasures of this world.

Abstain from all appearance of evil.

(1 Thessalonians 5:22)

Notice it says "all", not just some of the appearance of evil? Abstain means "to stay away from, leave alone, or refuse" . It does not mean "to modify, change, adapt or ignore". God will not judge you by what you think, but He will judge you by His Word. And His Word speaks plainly against pagan worship, idolatry and compromise that pollutes the gospel of Jesus Christ.
