Broken Shoestrings by Bro. Ty Sauer
It was a cold and rainy Monday morning when the snooze alarm sounded for the third time. My eyes began to open, but would only go half way. My head turned slowly to look at my beat up alarm clock. My eyes instantly opened and I jumped out of bed. I was thirty minutes late and had not even gotten started. I rushed to the bathroom, splashed water on my face to help my appearance (it did not). I fixed my hair, put on my pants and my shirt, messed up my hair then recombed it and rushed back into my room. I found a brown sock and a blue sock, located my shoes and sat down on the floor and realized I had a major headache. I proceeded with the shoes. The right one went okay, but as I put the left one on and began to tie it the shoe string broke! I couldn’t believe it! Why today? Why now? Why me? My life seemed to be falling apart and all in this one Monday morning. I began to cry, pray, and gripe to God all at the same time. Apparently He was sitting on the floor next to me because he answered right away. He kind of reminded me that at least I had feet to put in my new Reeboks. And I had a beautiful jeep to drive to a nice air conditioned office job out of the weather. He reminded me of all his many blessings He freely gave. As I sat there I began to cry tears of joy and thanksgiving. I fixed my broken shoestring and finished getting dressed. I climbed into my jeep and drove off to work in the rain (without a headache). It turned out to be a great day. Sometimes it takes broken shoestrings to get us to slow down long enough to pray. When you life seems like it is coming to an end God is right there to mend the broken strings of your life. [][][][] |
