Apostolics Inside & Out

By Pastor Michael Brigmond

It is just as important today as ever that we as Apostolics maintain a unity of the faith which can at present only be accomplished through the unity of the spirit.

Acts 2:38 is still the "tie that binds us together." It is the common denominator in a complex and dynamic body we know as Apostolic/Pentecostal. To hold true to our calling, we must continue to seek to save the lost, and Acts 2:38 is the vehicle to accomplish that goal.

At the same time, we must also remember that our walk with God is not an event, but a journey. It is a journey that will take us to spiritual places we did not know even existed when we took our first steps in the kingdom.

We will travel through the halls of holiness as we learn the depths of the true nature of Jesus Christ. Holiness is also not an event, but a process of growth. Holiness in a believer cannot be measured by a strict, uniform yardstick. As we grow in Christ, the intensity of our relationship with God will lead to increasing levels of purity.

We are commanded in 2 Cor 7:1: "Having therefore these promises, dearly beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God."

Paul is instructing that only by cleansing both the flesh and the spirit are we able to perfect holiness. To perfect anything requires a process. That process must be applied to both the flesh and the spirit.

As hard as we try, we must be continually reminded to cleanse the spirit. We hear plenty about the cleansing of the flesh, but let us not neglect the cleansing of the spirit. True holiness can only be perfected when we become Apostolics Inside and Out. [][][][]
